Subversion 3/3 - Nice boost to crit chance but will only be useful to Heart Strike since Blood doesn't use Obliterate anymore.Generates Rune Power while in combat and after killing a mob. Remember, my goal with this spec is not to achieve Uber-DPS but rather a balance between damage and self-healing. What follows is a breakdown of these talents and my reasons for choosing them. The goal here is to get Heart Strike as soon as you have enough talent points for it. If you are just starting a new Death Knight, I would suggest the following spec at level 58:
TANKING 3 OR MORE ENEMIES BLOOD DK PATCH
Truth be told, before patch 3.2 I was using a slightly different spec, as I had swapped a few talents around but as soon as I get back into the game, I will be using the following spec (at level 80): If you raid though, you might be more interested in the high-DPS spec which I will not delve into but merely mention. I will be describing the spec that I use because, like I already said, it allows you to solo pretty much anything that doesn't require a 5-man group. One of the hybrids includes a permanent ghoul. Another is a high-DPS one, with less healing. OK, now a Blood spec can be achieved in several ways. For that reason, I haven't even leveled my First Aid properly. It feels sublimely gratifying to slam a mob with instant hits from a heavy weapon and at the same time leech life such that my health is always full. A Blood Death Knight with this spec has zero downtime. I really appreciated the ability to kick ass and heal (my own) ass while doing it. Leveling as Blood was a very satisfying and safe experience. The main advantages of the Blood tree, when specced accordingly, are the steady healing and very decent DPS. Also, what works for me might not work for you but if you are interested in Blood, read on.
As a disclaimer of sorts, please note that this spec might not be particularly well suited for raiding but it works very well if you like to solo stuff. Fresh on the heels of my eulogy to Death Knights, I will now detail a Blood spec that I use and like a lot.
